Rudolf Niedersüß has been associated with Knize since 1976. A visit to his store offering the highest-quality men’s fashion is a journey through time in a uniquely atmospheric setting.

Imagine losing your suitcase while traveling or forgetting essential clothing items – and now you find yourself empty-handed in Vienna? No worries, just a few steps from the Park Hyatt Vienna, Knize, the men’s outfitter, has the perfect solution and suitable attire for any occasion. In the atmospheric setting designed by architect Adolf Loos, this institution offers business, event, and leisure clothing of the highest quality, shoes, premium accessories, loungewear, and even grooming products, including Knize’s exclusive fragrance and care line. Step into a world that transports you back in time, offering truly everything a man could need. Under the leadership of Rudolf Niedersüß, the store on Graben is the top destination for suits, blazers, and tailcoats. The latter is a true highlight of the former imperial and royal court tailor: the custom-tailored tailcoat service has been recognized by UNESCO and added to the national list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Knize is considered one of the oldest men’s fashion brands in the world, with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Even the emperor and archdukes of the Habsburg dynasty trusted the services of the fashion workshop founded in Vienna’s first district in 1858 by Bohemian master tailor Josef Knize. In 1888, Knize was appointed as an imperial and royal court tailor, and in 1922, with designer Ernst Dryden, it established its reputation as the world’s first modern men’s fashion label. In 1976, Rudolf Niedersüß joined the company; in 1978, he merged C.M. Frank, another former imperial and royal court supplier, with Knize & Comp.

In 1984, Knize opened a store for men’s ready-to-wear clothing on Bräunerstraße, and in 1989, the flagship store on Graben was expanded. However, the historical Loos salons remain almost unchanged to this day. Here, custom suits and accessories are still handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail. Tailcoat tailoring remains a key aspect of the business, particularly popular during ball and event seasons. Beyond custom-made clothing, the stores on Graben and Bräunerstraße offer a high-quality men’s collection and an expanded cosmetics line (with “Knize Ten” regarded as one of the oldest men’s perfumes in the world), as well as accessories, knitwear, shoes, and hats. For the colder season in Austria’s capital, Knize is the right place for elegant sweaters, warming scarves, and cashmere hats, ensuring a premium shopping and Viennese experience. Personalized service is also a major focus, with Rudolf Niedersüß embodying the Knize spirit with passion. The significance of the clothing sold at Knize remains exceptional: everything found here is made on-site with the finest fabrics and lovingly crafted with attention to detail. But it wasn’t just the emperor and archdukes who trusted the Viennese outfitter: many other aristocrats sought out the master tailor at the time, as did well-known stars such as Oskar Kokoschka (who paid for his suits with paintings), Marilyn Monroe (who had custom blouses made), and Marlene Dietrich (who relied on Knize’s tailcoats for her extraordinary stage shows). A visit to Knize is always worthwhile – even if you haven’t lost a suitcase or forgotten any clothing!

At Knize, customers can be outfitted with premium tuxedos, suits, sweaters, and accessories. Truly unique: “Knize Ten” is one of the oldest men’s perfumes in the world!

Rudolf Niedersüß offers customers a fully satisfying experience: Everything at Knize is crafted from the finest fabrics at the workshop located on the same premises.
